SUMMARY:Avalokiteshvara Empowerment and Teachings on Powa Practice~ Kuluta Buddhist Centre
DESCRIPTION:Room 205 on the 2nd floor of The Spire\, 82 Sydenham St. \nWhat is an empowerment? \nAn empowerment is a teaching and series of guided meditations whereby we make a connection with a particular Buddha. It bestows upon us special blessings that heal our mind and awaken our Buddha nature\, which is our potential to become an enlightened being. \nWho is Buddha Avalokiteshvara? \nAvalokiteshvara is an enlightened being who is a manifestation of the compassion of all Buddhas. Through this blessing empowerment\, we will draw close to Avalokiteshvara who will help us unlock our potential for great compassion. Pure compassion is a mind that finds the suffering of others unbearable\, but it does not make us depressed. In fact\, it gives us tremendous energy to work for others and to complete the spiritual path for their sake. \nWhat is the practice of Powa? \nPowa is a Buddhist practice of transference of consciousness. Through our compassionate prayers and concentration\, we can help our loved ones and all living beings make the important transition at death to a fortunate rebirth in a Buddha’s Pure Land\, where there is no suffering. \nOur ability to use Powa to help the dying and those who have recently died will depend upon the strength of our compassion and reliance upon Avalokiteshvara. If we have powerful compassion for all living beings\, we can definitely help them. \nEveryone is welcome to this special event regardless of background or experience. \nSchedule: \n10am-Noon: Buddha Avalokiteshvara Empowerment \nNoon-1:30pm: Lunch Break \n1:30-3:15pm: Powa and Commentary to the Practice \nCost: $65 \nPre-registration is required as we have 25 seats available on a first come\, first served basis. This event is in-person only and is expected to sell out. Registration closes at 5pm on Friday\, October 24th. Thank you for your understanding. \nRegister for the Empowerment
