General Manager
Sam MacLeod earned a BFA in Technical Theatre and Theatre Production from the University of Alberta and spent more than a decade working as a technical director and production manager with Ontario Place, Lighthouse Theatre, and Thousand Islands Playhouse. In 2016, Sam founded the Gananoque Refugee Settlement Group, which has since helped welcome and support 32 refugees in the area.
Before joining The Spire, Sam served as Fund Development Manager at Almost Home, a Kingston-based support organization for families with sick children. During his four-year tenure, he launched YGK Thrift, a boutique-style thrift store in downtown Kingston, produced the organization’s annual gala and golf tournaments, and created a number of special events and festivals to expand community engagement and fundraising capacity.
Sam joined The Spire in late 2023 and has since led the modernization of the facility, focusing on community engagement, performance-related upgrades, and expanding usage to serve a broader range of groups and activities.
